The Result: Woodley Sports 2 -2 FC Halifax Town.

Despite the College Grove ground being less than half a mile from the station return timings made a night time return journey impracticable so I am indebted to "The Riddler" for a lift. The artificial surface meant that at least we saw some football as the continuous rain throughout the evening would surely have seen a match on grass postponed.

Having paid £6.00 to gain admission and a further £1.00 for a basic programme we dived into the bar to keep out of the rain - that's my story and I am sticking to it!! A compact bar although it did have its own adjoining gymnasium and pool hall. The stadium itself had a small covered seating area down one touchline which housed the dressing rooms. The food kiosk was adjacent to this but apart from a small covered terraced area behind one goal the remainder of the ground was open to the elements; not very pleasant on a night of constant rain.

The food on offer was of a decent standard and price and there was enough to feed the 400+ Shay faithful in a total crowd of 512. They even cooked bacon and burgers to order in the second half which a welcome gesture was being as how I had come straight from work and not had any time for any scran.

As for the match itself it was definitely a point gained rather than 2 lost in my opinion after coming back from a two goal deficit.
