The Match:AFC Fylde v FC Halifax Town, Unibond Div 1 North.

The Date:Saturday 20^th March 2010.

The Result:AFC Fylde 2-2 FC Halifax Town.

After the pre-match ritual of full English - extra black pudding - at Jenny' we boarded the 10.26am to Kirkham which included a change - and a pint - at Preston arriving at just before noon. Following the good pub guide off the t'internet we sampled some decent ales in a town whose only claim to fame seemed to be they had a Foxs'biscuit factory!!

The three mile or so taxi ride to the ground had us thinking the driver had gone wrong as the ground is in the middle of nowhere and yet had a posh eatery of a pub right next to it which was full of Town fans sampling such culinary delights as Prawn Cocktail and Smokey Bacon!!

The short (muddy) walk to the ground enabled pre-purchased ticket holders (£7.00) to gain swift entrance and shell out a further £1.50 for a very basic programme.

The stadium itself had a porta-cabin bar and the food hut behind one goal with the sponsor's area and a small seated stand down one touchline whilst the rest of the viewing area was a combination of paved and uncovered grass standing areas. Some 550 Shaymen were in a total crowd of 764 which was strange as Fylde had said they had sold 800 tickets!!

Despite having an idea of the size of the crowd food service was laborious and they ran out of peas before half time. However despite the basic surroundings we received a friendly welcome and returned this gesture by conceding yet another late equalising goal to deny us the 3 points which we deserved.

Thankfully we had pre-booked our return taxi back to Kirkham after the game as cabs were scarce with Elvis and Lord Lucan driving two of them.
