The Date:Tuesday 16th March 2010.

The Result:Clitheroe 1-2 FC Halifax Town.

With the return train journey being a non starter for an evening game I booked myself into Cassidys' Cabs for the 45 minute journey to Shawbridge.

Arriving at just before 7pm and having paid £7.00 admission we were able to sample a couple or three libations in the compact but homely clubhouse and read the fairly informative programme (£1.50) which only let itself down by being printed on poor quality paper.

The ground itself is quite tidy with a small covered terrace behind one goal whilst behind the other goal lies the clubhouse and changing rooms which have a small standing area in front of them. Along one touchline was a sponsors hospitality area, food kiosk and a small covered seated stand whilst across from this were two covered sheds in which the majority of the 450+ Shay faithful in a total crowd of 654 stood for most of the game.

The food was basic - pies but no peas - and service were methodically slow to say the least!!

The slope on the pitch had to seen to be believed but made Barnet look flat!! and had Tom Baker stood in the centre circle he would have struggled to see the corner flags. Whilst not being our best performance of the season the 3 points and the dramatic nature in which it was achieved ensured James Deans continued as a cult hero with the Town fans who went into delirium - Dave Fletchers' words not mine - after his 94th minute winner.

Journey Distance: 64 miles.

Total Distance For the Season: 2,745 miles.

Terry "Chadders" Sunderland.
