The Date:Saturday January 23rd 2010

The Result:Bamber Bridge 0-2 FC Halifax Town (Marshall, Dean).

Our first away jaunt since............................... well the last one took us to Bamber Bridge for our second meeting in 5 days.

With no cheap train tickets available and the standard walk on fare of £14.30 we decided to allow Big Ade to chauffeur us across after he had completed his Saturday morning work shift!!

A 1.30pm rendezvous in Elland at the appropriately named Travellers Pub meant we did not arrive at the ground till 2.15pm but we were quite fortunate to find a parking space that had been reserved for us between a telegraph pole and some road works some 150 yards from the ground.

The ground is easy enough to find being less than one mile from the M65 and admission to the QED Stadium was £7.00 with a further £1.50 for an informative and well laid out programme. The ground itself is a good 10 minute walk from the railway station and the Town Centre and is a neat and tidy stadium with a decent club house , sponsors area and food outlets situated behind one goal and a small covered terraced area behind the other. A neat covered seating area runs down one side of the pitch whilst opposite that is an uncovered small terrace running down the other touchline.

The food on offer was of a good quality and realistically priced as was the hand pulled Black Sheep served in the club - much to the delight of the Town Real Ale drinkers and indeed some chose to watch the game from the vantage point in the club whilst chatting to some FC Halifax Town player's relatives!!

Second half goals from Scooby and Deano ensured another 3 points towards the march to The Unibond Premier and we can only hope the injury to Tom Baker is none too serious.

So a quick dash back to Elland to continue the celebrations till the early hours - well 9.30pm in my case - and we look forward to the trip to Mossley / Ashton next Tuesday.

Total Distance For The Season:2,217 miles.

Journey Distance:96 miles.
