In January I was fortunate to be picked out of a draw organised by the Daily Telegraph to compete in the Great North Run.

Most people who run the race have to sponsor a certain charity, I know of at least two town fans who were at Bradford Park Avenue last week, and are running for a designated cause. This is where I am in a favourable position of choosing any sponsorship money collected goes to my chosen benefactors.

Being a licensee in Cheshire I have informed my regulars and surrounding businesses of a 50/50 sponsorship with half going to East Cheshire Hospice and half going to the landlords home town football team, by way of the Supporters Club.

Over the next week or so I will be bringing sponsorship forms over to the shay for the Supporters Club, The South Stand Bar and you can download the form here - Great North Run

It doesn't matter whether the money is collected in Cheshire or Halifax, the Shaymen will start get 50%.

The race is live on BBC1 and I will be wearing the orange away shirt for recognition towards the rear of the runners. Anything you could give would be truly appreciated and with the run not taking place until the 30th of September, there is plenty of time to save up a few quid.
