The 10p Challenge
The Supporters Club have revealed their initial fund-raising event for the 2007-08 season, and are asking ALL Town fans to save their 10p coins so that they can help surround the Shay pitch with the coins. This is a variation of an idea used in 1931-32 where fans were asked for coins to form a "mile of pennies".
The Shay pitch measures 107.4 x 67 metres, which relates to an overall outer length of 335.4 metres. There are roughly 43 10p coins to a metre, so therefore we would need to collect around 14400 10p's, a big task you may think but if each one of our regular fans manages just 12 coins each, the challenge will succeed.
Designated 10p collection boxes will be available inside both entrances from the first home league match against Altrincham.
Your assistance in this challenge will be greatly appreciated.
