October will be our highest attendance figures yet, I am sure of that. If our previous schools are anything to go by, I am sure we will have approximately 80 children per day!! Thats the target we have set ourselves anyway.
It is our aim to get these children to a game and increase or even begin their support of their local team.We have now increased the profile of Shay Stadium Community Football and
Halifax Town in the local community to such an extent that we are having to turn schools and children away. What I mean by this is during term time we visit so many schools on a weekly basis that two schools have now approached us and we have been unable to fit them in. Additionally our holiday schools are now so full that the area we can use is full so we have to put a limit on the number of attendees so that children get enough coaching and pitch time.
The next logical step is to create a closer link to the club. As of yet I am not sure how this will be attained. The possibilities are endless of course, all of which will look to the longer term of these children supporting our club on a more regular basis.
Some of you may be aware, the entire squad met the children in the summer, they were brilliant in answering questions and signing autographs. Peter Atherton who I had never met prior to the summer helped arrange this and he was superb with all involved.
So hopefully, after the October holidays not only will I be able to report some great attendances for you but you will witness yourself these children on matchdays.
Speak to you soon,
Lee Ashforth
