The new season continues at a pace as FC Halifax Town make their first away trip of the campaign to Frickley Athletic.
Town began the new campaign perfectly with a 2-1 win at home to Buxton on Saturday, with goals from debutants Jamie Vardy and Danny Holland. Frickley, though, started with a defeat at the weekend, losing 1-0 at Kendal Town.
Manager Billy Heath is in his second spell as boss after resigning in September 2007 but being re-appointed three months later. His brother Steve, a former England Schoolboy International, is a defender at the club.
Their most notable players are former Grimsby full-backs Grant Normington and Matt Bird, who have both joined the club permanently after successful loan spells.
The Blues finished 15th last season, perhaps due to the fact that no players got into double-figures and only four other teams scored fewer goals than them in the Evo-Stik Premier Division.
The club was established in 1910 and is famously situated next to the former Frickley colliery spoil heap. They played in the Football Conference for seven years in the 1980's, finishing second in the 1985-86 season and reached the third round of the FA Cup in the same year.
Frickley have been in the Northern Premier League, under its many guises, for the past 24 years since being relegated in 1987, and have gone from losing in the play-off semi-finals to surviving by one point during that time.
Town boss Neil Aspin is expected to be without James Dean and Danny Lowe, who aren't expected to return to action for a few weeks, while Scott Phelan is a shorter-term absentee, but James Riley may still be in contention despite needing stitches after being elbowed in the head against Buxton.
To see if the Shaymen can make it two wins out of two, be at the Westfield Lane ground for Tuesday night's 7.45pm kick-off. If you can't make it to the game, the official FC Halifax Town website will be providing regular updates on all the night's action, and highlights of the match will be exclusively available on Shaymen Player from Wednesday at 5pm.
