BSFC Match :- Preview
Saturday's 2 v 2 draw at Woodside park means Halifax Town and Bishop's Stortford have to meet again for a place in the last 16 of this season's FA Trophy. This time it's The Shaymen who have home advantage and they will be looking to build on Saturday's performance, and their excellent record on home soil, which saw top scorer Jon Shaw equalise twice to set up Tuesday's replay.
The Hertfordshire side make their first ever visit to The Shay and they will be given all the respect they deserve. The first game proved ex Arsenal man Martin Hayes has a very talented side at his disposal but The Shaymen, with home advantage, will now be the favourites in many people's eyes to progress.
The replay gives Shay fans their first chance to see new recruits Thomas Harban, Tom Sharpe and Craig Nelthorpe in a blue shirt and Nathan Joynes will also be in action after he rejoined Halifax Town from Barnsley on a permanent contract.Saturday's performance showed better times may lie ahead and Chris Wilder will be looking for further improvements.
Andy Campbell has made 4 substitute appearances since returning from injury and will be desperate for more game time, as will Danny Forrest who could be alongside Campbell on the bench following his own injury absence.Simon Heslop plays the final game of his loan spell from Barnsley and he will be looking to sign off with the type of excellent performance that has become his trademark over the past 12 weeks.Another of his spectacular long range goals would be a fitting way to depart.
Bishop's Stortford have dangerous players of their own.Roy Essandoh who hit the FA Cup headlines a few years back when he scored Wycombe Wanderers goal that knocked then Premiership side Leicester City out of the competition leads their attack. Alongside him is Greg Pearson who has 27 goals to his name this season including 4 hat-tricks.
Everyone at Halifax Town will be keeping their fingers crossed that the winds, hail, rain, snow, thunder and lightening that arrived during the previous round against Leamington will have disappeared and that conditions at The Shay are fine for a performance that merits progression to the next round on February 2nd.
