FC Halifax Town manager Neil Aspin spoke to Shaymen Player on the eve of the new campaign, and said he is satisfied with the club's pre-season preparations.

"Pre-season's gone okay, nothing spectacular, it's been steady, we've introduced a lot of new players to the club and all those players have taken part in games. Going into Saturday's game, we've got most of the squad to pick from."

The summer has seen a number of players come and go at The Shay, and Aspin says the result is a stronger squad for the new season.

"I've kept players that I wanted to keep and we've brought in players that I wanted as well. I believe the strength of the squad is stronger than it was last year. Obviously, we're going into a stronger league with better players so our lads will have to up their game."

Aspin signed a new two-year contract this week, and said he was delighted to extend his stay as Halifax manager.

"We're trying to move the club forward, and I want to be a part of it. We've got players at the club who want to do well and I'm delighted to stay here longer. Last season was good and we'd like to follow that up with another good season."
