England Win That's Good
FC Halifax Town seem to have played every midweek game since the start of the season. Jim Vince and his squad of players will no doubt have enjoyed an evening of training ahead of Saturday's league trip to Rossendale United.
I took the opportunity tonight to attend the England U21 game at Bramhall Lane, which saw Stuart Pearce's side win 2-0 over the Czech Republic.
It's not often that we get the chance to watch other live football games but it is always pretty enjoyable. I have never done Bramhall Lane for a football game so it was a good opportunity to tick it off the list.
Four of us travelled down to the game, it was a good job we picked up the tickets on Saturday morning as we would have missed more than the first two minutes of the game due to the long queues outside the ground. As a Town fan, queuing is not something I am used to at a game.
The home of Championship side Sheffield United is of course all seater, again something we are not used to at this level. What I don't understand is why everyone has to stand up every time the ball comes up your end of the pitch but with goals from Frazier Campbell and Craig Gardner we certainly had plenty to enjoy.
Add Aaron Lennon into the mix there wasn't many more of the England team that I had heard of but a win is a win and makes the evening more enjoyable. I do however now know Kyle Naughton, he's a youngster playing at Sheffield United and got an amazing reception from the crowd.
Tomorrow night sees the main England side in action against Germany in an International friendly. I don't think anyone expects us to beat them 5-1 again but a win would set us in good stead for the rest of our World Cup qualifiers next year.
There have been a couple of results tonight in the Unibond First Division and second placed Bamber Bridge have been beaten at home 2-0 by Mossley so Town retain their lead at the top of the league.
Town travel to Rossendale United on Saturday looking to make it 11 league games unbeaten. Let's hope we are all celebrating then with another three points
