Barras - Lads Are Buzzing
Club Captain Tony Barras has insisted FC Halifax's extra-time victory over Sheffield FC on Tuesday evening was a vital one, in order to keep the Town bandwagon rolling. He told the Official site in the build-up to the home league game with Chorley on Saturday:
"It was a very good result against Sheffield FC. We found ourselves 1-0 down but we could've been a couple of goals up before then in all honesty because we created some good chances. We did eventually take our opportunities and could've wrapped it up before extra-time but their keeper pulled off some very good saves. And it's good that we've finally managed to get through to the next round of a cup competition!
"Although we played 120 minutes, it was a very good, useful workout because some of the lads haven't played many games. For me, that was the first time I've managed 120 minutes since playing for Witton Albion in the play-offs last year. The shoulder is still very sore and it won't be for a couple weeks until the pain has finally gone away.
"The lads are buzzing now because of how we're doing in the league, but if we'd have lost against Sheffield it could've put a downer on things, so it was good to keep the winning run going and it's kept the lads high and everybody involved with the club high.
"We need a win on Saturday against Chorley, we're aiming to get the three points to keep our winning run going leading up to the biggest home game of the season so far against Newcastle Blue Star (Saturday 29 November)."
