FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince has declined to respond to comments attributed to Garforth Town's manager Simon Clifford on their website today, who has been critical of him and the club this week.

Vince told the official site tonight, "We are a professional club and our standards are professional. If I say any response to them it would go against my principles and the club's principles.

If people want to say things that's their prerogative but we'll get on with our business and do our talking where it matters, that's on the pitch."

Vince was pleased with his side on Tuesday night as they showed great character to come from 2-0 down at Garforth.

He said, "Training has gone well tonight and we have worked on some progression from Tuesday night's game.I was quite pleased and the squad have responded well. All the players are buoyed from Tuesday's performance and we will give it our all on Saturday.

I know Tommy Lawson and he's a well respected manager at this level. He'll bring his squad to the Shay on Saturday expecting three points. They did really well last year and I saw their game against Gateshead and they beat them in the Cup. We can't take anything for granted in this game and if we are lax and not disciplined and play to our levels we won't win on Saturday.

He still has a number of players out injured which include captain Tony Barass, Steve Payne, Neil Ross, Ross Clegg and Phil Senior.

Vince said, "Peter Moore has declared himself fit, Tony Barras is about two weeks off to returning for us, Phil Senior is about a week away.

Neil Ross will have his operation on Monday while Steve Payne will have his the following week which was the earliest we could get him in for it.

Unfortunately the club does not have a bottomless pit of money. Just to show people we haven't, we've released Craig Smith today. It's not because I don't like the lad but we can't afford him. I have a budget which I am working to. Unfortunately with the arrival of Damian Allen, we are a little top heavy and it's a decision which had to be made. This is not a football decision; we need to ensure we are spending wisely.

We are still trying to improve the squad as all managers should do, hopefully we may have some news middle of next week regarding some business I am trying to do with a centre forward."

Town vs Skelmersdale - Saturday 11th October, 3pm kick-off.
