Winger Dorryl Profitt an ex Manchester City professional and ex England Under 19 player has been released by FC Halifax Town after only a few games into the new season by team manager Jim Vince.

Jim told the official website, "Dorryl is a lovely lad and one of the nicest players you would wish to work with. He has played for me before, but as a non contract player he chose to leave my team to sign a two year deal with another club, that was a good move for him and his family at that time. At the end of last season he was out of contract and once I was appointed at Halifax, I gave him an opportunity to play for our great club. Unfortunately he has not achieved the standard I have expected but everyone at our club wishes Dorryl the very best in the future.

I have made a few calls to various managers and subsequently I understand he has already agreed terms with a team in a higher division. You can give players an opportunity but it's up to them to take it, after several poor team displays changes had to be made. Six weeks ago we had no players, steadily the initial squad has been improved and I will continue to change to change personnel until I get the standard of football that our supporters demand."

Town entertain Silsden in the FA Cup 1st Preliminary Round on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
