Goalkeeper Craig Mawson has left the Shaymen to join Conference North side Droylsden FC late this afternoon.

When Craig took the decision to join Jim Vince's team, we were all delighted but knew we might not keep hold of him for the whole season. The Club did agree with Craig when he signed for FC Halifax Town that we would not hold him back if a team further up the pyramid expressed an interest in him.

Droylsden made an enquiry earlier in the week and we gave the player permission to speak with them.

We wish Craig all the very best for the future and thank him for his loyalty and service.

Town boss Jim Vince told the official site tonight, ""We've done some good business for the club and for Craig Mawson. He's moved up to a higher standard. We said we wouldn't stand in his way if a higher club came in for him when he signed for us.  It's come a little bit earlier than we anticipated but he's gone and we wish him well."

In return I've brought Jon Kennedy in whose been at the club before and I've worked with for the last couple of years. I rate him extremely highly and he's signing today so I expect him to be involved on Saturday for us. He's had to sort out all the paperwork so he wasn't in training with us tonight."

Kennedy, who has previously played for Accrington Stanley, made 15 league appearances for the Shaymen in the 2005/06 season prior to his move to Witton Albion.
