New Halifax boss Jim Vince has now been in his position for a week and prior to his first training session with his squad tonight took time out to chat to the official website.

How did the position of Manager come about for you at The Shay?

"The position came about quite quickly. I was asked a few weeks ago whether it was something I would consider coming here. When you come here and look at the environment and the stadium, how would you not be interested in coming to a club with a great tradition? I have come into the job at the lowest the club's ever been and to be fair the only we can go is up from here.It is a great opportunity for me to show my skills and obviously give the supporters a team they can be proud of."

What's your background in football?

"Many years ago, I was a schoolboy at Stoke City. I moved to Crewe for a season and didn't really make the grade as a professional footballer. I switched to the non league and played for a few years. I got to my early 30's and started to do my coaching and got into management. I was a frustrated centre half.I thought I was good but I wasn't! I would say that I was a centre half when I was in the league and midfielder in the semi professional teams. I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a player. I have never played at the Shay but you never know whether it will happen one day."

Why Halifax Town?

"It's a great opportunity to showcase what I can do as a manager and a coach. That's a selfish point of view from my prospective but I am not here to make friends, I am here to win things and to be involved in a successful club."

How's the first week gone?

"A week ago we didn't have any players. Tonight we have our first training session and we have a full dressing room. Not all the players will be here at the start of the season. The squad will take shape in the next 5 to 6 weeks. It has been a unique experience in the first week. When you are involved in a club you normally have a foundation to build on, you have a player basis with say 3 to 4 players. Here we have no-one at the moment and it is like wiping the board clean and building from scratch. I think we have done alright so far.

There will be no stipulations that we have 18 contracted players. A player will be offered a contract if he is a valuable asset to the club and the club has a benefit for him to be playing. For me, it's too soon to make an assessment on contracted or non contracted players."

What are the expectations and your thoughts on being favourites with the bookmakers?

"The bookies have done that due to the history of the club coming down to this level. They probably think that the players that ended last season will be starting next season. They have been a little blinkered in their view. There are some good sides in this league. It is a challenging and robust league and expectations for me is that in the first, second, third game and so on during the season the players give a good account of themselves. I am sure if they do that the supporters will recognise this and they will enjoy the football that we will try to play. "

Witton Albion scored plenty of goals and played attractive football. Can the fans expect to see this from your new squad?

"Without a doubt, it is my methodology . That's how I want to see my teams play football. Last season, my team conceded 22 goals and scored 80/90 goals maybe 100 in all competitions. For me, you have to play attractive football. Supporters will not come through the turnstiles to watch a drab game of football, they want to be entertained. I think offensive football is attractive."

What will training be like for the players?

"Training will be hard as we are two weeks behind everyone else. However we will be effective and dynamic in our approach and make sure that each session are right for the players. It will be a staged approach so that come the first game of the season all the players are 100%."

What timescales are there for signing players?

"We have players signed now, however we can't submit the paperwork until the club name is confirmed. We have a strong basis already and we will be looking to add to the squad.

I am bringing in Nigel Jemson as my assistant manager but we are also looking to sign him as a player as well.Primarily he will be here to support me and to help the club move forward. Out of all the signings that we have had or will have, he is probably the best signing for us as what he can provide from a technical background. I am pleased to have him on board.

Nigel will give me the flexibility and he will be able to watch games and allow me to watch other matches".

What message would you give to the fans ahead of the new season?

"Let's get it on."
