Halifax Town take on Nantwich Town at the Weaver Stadium in the 2nd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.

Town have so far knocked out Silsden and Ryton to reach this stage of the competition and now face a side one division higher in Nantwich.

Last season in the FA Cup, the Shaymen entertained Burton Albion at the Shay in the 4th qualifying round. However Town were defeated 4-0 in a disappointing performance.

The season before Town travelled to Burton Albion and were knocked out with a 1-0 defeat courtesy of a Daryl Clare goal.

Two goals from Chris Senior saw Chris Wilder's side knock Farsley Celtic out in the 4th Qualifying round in 2005, his goal against Rushden & Diamonds in the 1st Round helped Town to a replay at Nene Park but the Shaymen were knocked out of the FA Cup by a penalty shootout.

Steve Bushell was on target with an extra time goal to knock Leek Town out in a replay in 2004. Goals from Craig Midgley, Martin Foster and Neil Ross helped Town to a 3-1 win over Cambridge United and then were knocked out with a 3-1 defeat at the Shay at the hands of Chester City.

In 2003, Northwich Victoria were the victors in a 1-0 win at this stage who were then beaten by Kidderminster Harriers in the next round.

Burton Albion dashed the hopes of a cup run in 2002 with a 2-1 win with goals from Craig Dudley and Glenn Kirkwood.

In the few years before 2002 Town have been knocked out by Gateshead, Reading, Manchester City, Gainsborough Trinity, Bishop Auckland, Runcorn, Mansfield Town, Stockport County, Marine, Witton Albion, Rotherham United, Darlington, Kettering Town and Notts Forest.
