Halifax Town have gone down 1-0 at Aldershot Town this afternoon which the Shots manager Terry Brown said was "daylight robbery".

However that was no consolation to Chris Wilder and his players who are disappointed that they failed to get at least a point from the game.

Wayne Jacobs told the press after the game, "We're overall happy with the performance but disappointed with the result. Decisions were stacked against us and we felt we have three decent penalty shouts. However we're confident in our own abillity and we'll be okay as the season carries on.

Darren Barnard scored the only goal with just one minute of normal time to play. A freekick was taken short to Barnard who hit his shot through a crowd of players and beat Mawson, who didn't have a lot to do in the game.

John Grant had their best opportunity on nine minutes apart from the goal that condemned the Shaymen to defeat in the first half. Craig Mawson's freekick was poor and went to an Aldershot midfielder who released Grant, he steadied himself at the edge of the box but his finish wasn't clinical and Mawson made a comfortable save.

Ryan Sugden had Town's best opportunity, Danny Forrest shot was parried by Shots goalkeeper Nicki Bull, the ball came to Sugden who just needed a touch to put the ball into the back of the net but got too much on his shot and the ball went over the bar.

The Shaymen started the game well, a Foster freekick on 5 minutes found Andy Campbell down the left, his cross in was towards his strike partner Ryan Sugden, but the defender got in to clear the ball.

Two minutes later Adam Quinn's ball forward was picked up by Nicki Bull at the edge of the box, appeals from the Town players for handball but the referee waved away the protests.

Darren Barnards freekick found Ryan Williams which the Town players hadn't tracked, however his cross was blocked by Jake Wright for a corner. From Barnard's corner, Mawon got a great punch out and the Town defender cleared.

John Grant pressurised Mark Roberts in the corner as the Crewe loanee tried to shephered the ball out of play, however Grant won the ball and squared to Ben Harding who fired high over the bar.

Danny Forrest was fouled on 18 minutes, Foster's freekick was cleared to Killeen by John Grant and his shot was on target but was deflected and landed in the grateful hands of Bull.

Sugden received the ball from Killeen, he headed to Campbell, who sweeped the ball out to Forrest, he made a good run down the right and got himself into the box but his effort was again straight at Bull, a minute later he had a shot from distance which Bull got a strong left hand onto after a Campbell flick to him.

Gus Uhlenbeek's cross from the right was trying to find either Sugden or Killeen on 27 minutes but the ball landed between them and the defender cleared.

Towns best move came on 30 minutes, Killeen ran down the middle and his pass found Forrest, he found the overlapping Foster who sent his pass first time back to Forrest his shot was saved by Bull and Sugden fired the rebound over the bar.

Sugden and Killen combined on the left hand side, Lewis got to the byline and put in a cross which was testing the stretching goalkeeper but as Sugden went to challenge for the ball, the referee blew for a foul.

Jake Wright was replaced by Matt Doughty with a couple of minutes of the half left injured. He was soon in the action, Forrest was fouled, his freekick was crossed in but no Town player could get a touch.

A minute into the second half, Town felt they should have had a penalty. Forrest took 2 defenders on and was blocked off and went down, however the referee waved away the appeals again.

On 47 minutes, Sugden ran towarded the box, found Killeen on the right hand side and his shot was deflected for a corner. Town kept hold of the ball for a couple of minutes with some good possession, which finished with Matt Doughty's cross and Mark Roberts unmarked headed wide of the far post.

Campbell was fouled 30 yards from goal, Foster's freekick was headed away by Marcus Gayle and Ricky Newman completed the clearance.

Sugden had options on 54 minutes, he picked the ball up in midfield but decided to shoot from distance and his shot went high and wide.

Chris Wilder made his second subsitution on 61 minutes with Shane Smeltz replacing Sugden. Within a minute Campbell went down in the box, he clearly felt like he had been fouled, but no penalty again. Danny Forrest was replaced by Torpey on 70 minutes.

Darren Barnard had a freekick cleared by Martin Foster who found Torpey, he ran up frield and from left side of box fired wide of the target.

On 79 minutes,Torpeys cross was deflected for a corner, Aldershot cleared but Quinn was fouled 30 yards from goal. Torpey's shot was deflected, Foster's cross came in from the left and Smeltz headed wide of the foul.

A ball forward by the Town defenders was searching for Campbell, the defender appeared to handle the ball, Campbell was furious with the decision. However no freekick and the incident also saw goalkeeping coach Lee Butler sent to the stand by the referee after discussions with the fourth official.

The goal was a killer blow for the Shaymen in the 89th minute but Chris Wilders side still had opportunities with a Torpey corner headed wide at the near post, another penalty claim for handbal land Quinn volleyed over the bar.

The Shaymen played some great football at times but couldn't find the right ball when they got to the box and the result does not show the effort by the lads.
