Halifax Town have been defeated 2-0 by Crawley Town in the Nationwide Conference.

Town manager Chris Wilder was clearly unhappy with his side this afternoon, keeping his players in the changing room for 45 minutes before speaking to the media.

"We started very very slowly and slack, punished at the start and chasing the game after that.

The players are all on one year contracts, the boys have to realise that their futures are on the line here."

Matt Doughty was the only player missing from the starting eleven that won at home to Stafford last weekend due to illness, so Jake Wright came back into the side at fullback.

Crawley started the game the brightest, Lee Blackburn put in a dangerous cross from the left hand side on 2 minutes which Jake Wright headed away inside his own six yard box.

Gus Uhlenbeek who started the game playing right midfield tried to find on loan striker Nathan Joynes inside the box on 4 minutes, however he couldn't get enough on the ball and the home goalkeeper Ben Hamer was able to safely collect.

Quinn foul on Scott Rendall on 6 minutes gave Crawley an early set piece. Tony Scully's quickly taken free kick was low towards goal but a comfortable save for Craig Mawson.

Log ball forward found Ryan Peters and his pace beat Adam Quinn, however his team mates hadn't got into the box and his pullback from the by-line was easy for Mawson.

Wright and Lewis Killeen combined down the left and the cross into the box found Shane Smeltz and his effort was saved by Hamer.

Another left wing cross was well cleared by Wright on 16 minutes, but he was involved for the wrong reasons for the opening goal two minutes later. Blackburn took Wright on; he evaded the challenge from the fullback. His cross was behind the first Crawley man in the box but fell lovely for an unmarked Tony Scully who had time to guide the ball into the bottom left hand corner, leaving Mawson with no chance.

Lewis Killeen went close within a minute but his cross cum shot was just over the bar.

Wright and Killeen combined again this time from a throw in, with Town winning a corner. Tom Kearney's set piece went into a good area but the referee Mr Cooke blew for a foul and a free kick to the home side.

On 25 minutes Tyrone Thompson won Town a corner through his persistence, however Kearney's cross was headed out, Tony Scully cleared and his cross was cut out by Kearney at the edge of the box.

Peters got in behind the two centre halves a minute later but Mawson did well to take the ball cleanly at his feet.

The Shaymen's best effort of the half came on 31 minutes. Kearney found Smeltz on the right hand side of the box, his effort was saved by Hamer and the ball seemed to fall to Joynes but he couldn't get enough on it and Crawley cleared.

Peters was adjudged to have been fouled by Rob Atkinson at the edge of the box, Tony Scully set up 7 who fired wide of the left hand post.

Killeen's cross on 37 minutes was cut out by 7 for corner. Kearney's cross was flicked on by Joynes and Atkinson's effort was over the bar.

In first half injury time the pace of Peters with Mawson saving his first effort and then Jake Wright getting back well to tackle the front man.,

Chris Wilder made two changes at the break with Ryan Sugden and Danny Forrest replacing Shane Smeltz and Gus Uhlenbeek.

Killeen and Wright once again combined down the left hand side, but the cross aimed for Danny Forrest 8 yards out was two high for the former Bradford City attacker.

On 54 minutes Mark Wright was given too much time and his shot from 25 yards was turned around the post by Mawson for a corner.

However, within two minutes Crawley wrapped up the three points. A Town throw in on the left hand side was given away cheaply, Crawley got the ball to Blackburn 30 yards out, Mawson got his hand to the fierce shot but couldn't get enough it and the home side were two up.

Chris Senior replaced Nathan Joynes on 58 minutes as Wilder made his final change of the game.

Sugden was fouled on 68 minutes at the edge of the box; however Kearney's effort was high and wide of the target,

Hamer's kick up field on 72 minutes went straight to Town, Sugden found Senior, however he didn't connect properly with the ball and the tame shot was easy for a relieved keeper.

On 76 minutes, Wright's cross found Sugden who managed to hold the defender off and get a shot in whilst on the floor but straight at Hamer.

Scully found Jake Edwards with a lovely cross from the right wing, his effort was over the bar. It wouldn't have counted due to a referee assistant's flag.

Danny Forrest tried to skip past Mark Wright, who fouled him. He was yellow carded for the challenge, but the resulting free kick was headed away by Robert Kember.

There were still time for a couple more efforts for Town with Forrest having a shot, and Kearney looking certain to score on 90 minutes with the ball destined for the top corner, Hamer managed to turn the ball out for a corner.

The only booking for Town was Chris Senior in the second half, for a second challenge on the goalkeeper.
