Halifax Town lost 2-0 at home to Northwich Victoria in the Conference National with second half goals from Matthew Shaw and Paul Brayson.
Town boss Chris Wilder was pleased by his side's performance which saw his team creating 15 chances on goal but just didn't have that killer instinct of goal.
The failure to convert their chances cost the Shaymen dear. Matthew Shaw headed home on 69 minutes and Paul Brayson lobbed Craig Mawson to seal the points for Steve Burr's side.
Wilder also suffered the blow with on loan centrehalf Neal Trotman limping off with a hamstring injury which is likely to see him miss the weekend's game at Woking, while Steve Haslam went off the pitch for 10 minutes to have stitches in his nose.
Town created many opportunities in the first half but despite the efforts of former Northwich loanee Felix Bastians and Gus Uhlenbeek couldn't find a way past visiting goalkeeper Ben Connett.
During the second half, Town started well but Haslam's departure from the pitch saw Northwich come into the game more and Shaw took his opportunity well from an overhead kick. Brayson capitalised to make it 2-0 as Town pressed for an equaliser lobbing Mawson after Connett's long kick forward.
The Town boss felt his side should have had two penalties in the second half for handball and a foul on Tom Kearney but the referee waved away the appeals.
Halifax Town's next game is at Woking this weekend ,kick-off 3pm at Kingfield.
