![]() Substitute Chris Senior helped Town fightback |
It's a football cliché that it's a game of 2 halves but it certainly was at the Broadfield Stadium as Halifax Town showed tremendous character to turn around a 2 goal defecit to gain another vital point. And, other results show how vital a point this was as it leaves the Club needing only one more point from the remaining home games at home to Gravesend and Canvey Island to secure a play off place.
Chris Wilder kept faith with the same starting line up who excelled at York on Easter Monday but they struggled to make the same impact against a lively Crawley side.

The Shaymen struggled to cope with Crawley but towards the end of the first half the signs they could claw they way back into the game started to appear. John Grant won a free kick in a central position 20 yards from goal but Foster's free kick was deflected and Grant was involved again on the stroke of half time but shot wide from the right hand side of the penalty area.
Whatever Chris Wilder said at half time should be bottled as Town came out a different side after the break and took the game to Crawley. Chris Senior replaced Brian Smikle and became the catalyst for the comeback that followed.
After 57 minutes Town scored. Lewis Killeen combined with Matt Doughty whose cross was cleared for a throw in. Doughty took it and Senior played a superb one two with Tyrone Thompson and his clinical low finish gave home keeper Phil Smith no chance. Grant shot narrowly over moments later as the pressure on the home defence grew.
Crawley remained a threat on the break but failed to trouble Jon Kennedy. Ryan Sugden replaced Grant after 68 minutes and seconds later Town were level. Senior's persistence on the right hand side was rewarded when he held off a home defender to reach Thompson's ball forward. He crossed first time and found Killeen on the far post who slotted home.
Danny Forrest went close to winning the game with 89 minutes on the clock. Sugden challenged and Forrest latched onto the ball, controlling it on his chest before volleying the ball just over the bar with his left foot.
The final whistle blew and Town's second half comeback was rewarded with another point which, coupled with other results, means only one more point is required for the play offs
