Colwyn Bay: A Point Was All We Deserved

Posted on: Mon 30 Aug 2010

FC Halifax Town manager Neil Aspin spoke to Shaymen Player after his side's 1-1 draw with Colwyn, and said a point apiece was a fair outcome from the match.

"You have to analyse the game over 90 minutes and probably a point was all we deserved. I'm not going to be too downhearted about it, we know we've got to play better and we will play better but we need to produce a good performance which will give everybody a lift and get us going again."

Aspin said there is room for improvement among his players, but that there are mitigating circumstances for the team's performances.

"I'm not happy with the way we're playing, but there are reasons, obviously we've not had a settled team and we've got people coming in and going out through injury and that will settle down and when it does, we can get into a rhythm and confidence will build."

The Halifax boss also said that the new players in the squad will take a bit of time to settle down.

"I need to keep the players spirits up as some of them won't have experienced playing in-front of big crowds. It's alright when things are going well, your crowd lift you and help you play better but when you're struggling it can work the other way and people can go into their shell so there's a lot of work to do but I'm certainly not getting disheartened at the moment."
