FC Halifax Town boss Neil Aspin joined Shaymen Player after his side drew 0-0 for the first time under his management at Frickley, and said his players gave it everything they could to find an elusive winning goal.

"The players did everything I asked in the second-half, they just couldn't apply the finish. I've always said that if the players give 100% then I'm happy and they certainly gave that in the second-half."

The referee was at the centre of a number of controversial decisions during the game, and Aspin was upset at the official's performance.

"I'm not saying I'm an expert in refereeing, but I'd like to think the advantage rule could have been applied on at least five occasions, and it's really frustrating when you're watching on the touchline."

The Shaymen created a number of chances in the second-half, and Aspin said the first goal would have been an important breakthough.

"There were that many chances I can't remember all of them! But we had enough chances to win the game and if one of them goes in, the other team has to come out a bit more and it gives us more space."
