FC Halifax Town striker Jamie Vardy spoke to Shaymen Player after scoring in the 2-0 win against Trafford, and said the team were happy with the result.

"I think we did fine, especially in the first-half, we let it slip a bit in the second-half, but we're just glad to get the win and another clean sheet."

It was Town's final pre-season game, and Vardy said the squad is excited about the league campaign starting next Saturday at home to Buxton.

"Everyone's looking forward to the season and we'll just be happy as soon as the season gets underway."

Vardy also revealed the decision to leave Stocksbridge in the summer wasn't an easy one, but the lure of Halifax was too strong.

"It was tough to leave Stocksbridge because they stood by me through good and bad times, but if I want to further my career I had to move on."
