FC Halifax Town's Mark Bower joined Shaymen Player after the club's 2-0 victory at Trafford, and said he was pleased to end their pre-season programme on a high.

"It was a decent overall performance; a good win and a clean sheet and we created plenty of chances. We came under a bit of pressure in the second-half but we withstood it."

Bower also said there is a good atmosphere in the current squad at The Shay.

"There's a good spirit here, plenty of banter flying around. We've had a team bonding session and things like that so it's been good and you need that sort of thing if you're going to be successful."

Bower's league experience will be crucial for Town this season, and is happy to be able to help the younger members of the squad.

"I think I'm the oldest player in the squad, by a fair distance! There's not loads of experience here so hopefully I can bring my experience and help the lads where I can."
