FC Halifax Town's Aaron Hardy joined Shaymen Player after the 0-0 draw with Droylsden and said he was happy to be back playing.

"I've had a good rest, which the gaffer stressed we should but we're all happy to be back playing again now."

Hardy is also pleased how the new look squad is shaping up.

He said: "Pre-season is hard to judge players by so the gaffer is have a look at certain players in certain positions, but they've all done well so far and it's all looking good."

Hardy admitted the match against higher league opposition provided a good test for Halifax.

"The Brighouse game was a case of everyone getting their feet back on the ground but this was a good test for us as they kept the ball well so it will help our fitness."
