Jonathan Hedge spoke to Shaymen Player about his unexpected outfield cameo against Mickleover.

"The gaffer asked me before the game if I fancied going on the bench and I asked him jokingly if I could put the number 17 on and come on for the last ten minutes. When Deano got injured, Ryan (Crossley) turned round and said 'get warmed up, you're coming on.' and I enjoyed it."

Hedge revealed he was desperate to get on the score sheet.

He said "I was dying to score. Deep down, I thought it wasn't going to be my night, but the lads have given me plenty of banter after the game, especially after taking the penalty."

He also revealed the origins of his eye catching goal celebration after scoring the equalizer.

"I've been watching some Celtic games recently and as soon as I sprinted away I thought 'Robbie Keane' - a little roll, a little gun movement, after that I'd used up all my energy celebrating!"
