Clitheroe: It Was A Tough Game But I Enjoyed It

Posted on: Wed 17 Mar 2010

Mark Peers also spoke to Tom Snee after the 2-1 win at Citheroe:

"We were telling Deano to juts hit the target with that 'keeper in, he wasn't saving anything to be fair and no disrespect to him it must be hard for him to go in goal but we needed someone to hit the target and thankfully Deano did. He's come up with a bit of a lucky goal at the end there!"

The first half left much to the imagination with the second half brought to life by two penalties:

"Yeah definitely I think the first half was difficult, they defended pretty well and got everyone behind the ball. Our final ball might have been lacking and we weren't getting in the right areas but in the second half I think Sykesy has come in, having not played for a while and he's slipped and they've got the penalty. We've gathered the courage and got one back. Their 'keeper got sent off, which gave us the great position to go and get the winner."

After the sending off of 'keeper Danny Hanford replaced by Liam McManus, defender, were there any changes in the game plan:

"No not really, I think we all know that we've got to pepper the goal and any shots were going to trouble him and he's handling wasn't the best as you can understand. But when Aaron got sent that's evened things up and when it's ten against ten on such a big pitch, it was a little bit more difficult for us. But the main thing for us was the three points, we got them and everyone from Halifax goes home happy. "

Mark enjoyed starting for Town tonight, after coming back from injury:

"I've thoroughly enjoyed tonight, it was a tough game to come back into especially after a while out but I felt good. I didn't feel tired so all the fitness work I've been doing with Kev seems to have paid off. It was a tough game but I enjoyed it."
