Prescot Cables: It's Great To Be Back

Posted on: Sun 07 Mar 2010

After today's 3-0 win over Prescot Cables, Paul Sykes spoke to Adam Cheshire about his performance after coming off the bench in the second half:

"It's great to be back in, being around the lads and everything and it's nice to be in a proper stadium again. The three points were important, we're coming to the business end of the season and we want to be winning all our games from now on and it's in our own hands then."

Sykes spoke about his loan out to Ossett Town, and told us how it went:

"Mission achieved really, I went to get some games and match fitness. I played six games and I've scored a couple of goals but job done I've got the 90 minutes in, I'm now match fit and I'm now able to challenge for a place."

But during his time away Sykes has kept an eye on Town and the results:

"Yeah I've been in constant contact with Steve Payne and Trevor, looking on the website and checking everything out and keeping up to speed with everything. We saw last Saturday's result, I had to look twice and especially reading the report I mean I got a few reports from the boys too, and they've said a few of the things that got mentioned in the dressing room and they were adamant that they were going to put things right on the Tuesday night, which they did emphatically."

Sykes told us what he thought of the 5-0 win too:

"They responded well on the Tuesday and again today the guys have put on a good performance with the goals and such, so no complaints."

Sykes also gave us some insight into the Tom Baker sending off:

"It's frustrating, you saw the frustration in him as he was set off because he didn't think it was a red but I'll put an Arsene Wenger moment in, I didn't actually see it but obviously the frustration he's got is because he's adamant is wasn't a sending off. So we've all got to stick together at that point and build him back up for when he's available again."

Sykes also again praised the performance today:

"Results have gone our way, were four points behind Lancaster now with a game in hand and they've still got to come here so and to me it's in our hands and it has been most of the season. They've had a run and their coming unstuck, we've had a run and also had a little blip but I think we're the stronger side."
