Ossett Albion: Important That We Won Tonight
After the 5-0 win last night against Ossett Albion, Nick Gray spoke to Adam Cheshire about the game and his man of the match performance:
"Yeah I'm obviously very pleased tonight, first of all to get the win and second of all to get a hat-trick which is nice and thirdly to keep a clean sheet which is something we're looking to do from now on until the end of the season."
It was important to get the victory after the last Town performance:
"Everyone knows how disappointing it was to get that defeat on Saturday, nobody is more disappointed with the performance than the players, so it was vitally important that we came back tonight with a good win and that's exactly what we did. We were straight out the box and sharp from the off with a couple of early goals and that put us in a good position to kill the game off."
Gray spoke about his hat-trick goals:
"I've just took it past the centre half for the first one, and I kept taking another touch and another touch but no one seemed to come to me, you know I shot and thankfully it went past the 'keeper. The other two were headers which are a bit of a rarity for me; it's nice I'll take them however they come!"
And gave Harry Winter praise for his efforts too:
"He's doing very well for us and has started to show he can grab goals form midfield which is going to be important for us from now until the end of the season. We need to get goals from all areas of the pitch and I think Harry has done really well since he's come in and he's been brilliant tonight again."
Gray also discussed the importance of the clean sheet too:
"It's massively important for us to keep as many clean sheets as we can and if we keep doing that we know we'll score goals, Hedge has done great and the back four have done brilliant again tonight. We've got to really keep that going now."
After going 2-0 up, there were a few shaky moments at the back but Hedge made some great saves:
"I wouldn't say we were nervous but if you get two up and the other team get a goal against you then they always fancy their chances of getting another one. So I think it was important that Hedge made those saves tonight, not only at 2-0 but at 3-0 and 4-0 he made another couple of good saves and I thought he was excellent tonight."
With Prescot Cables at Home on Saturday there will be an opportunity to carry on this unbeaten home run:
"We've got to keep it going and we've got to win on Saturday there's no doubt about that. We didn't have the greatest of games at their place, so we'll be looking to really kick on, on Saturday and get another three points."
