Radcliffe Borough: It Was Shocking Really

Posted on: Sat 27 Feb 2010

After today's 3-2 loss to Radcliffe Borough, James Riley spoke to Adam Cheshire about the result:

"It was shocking really, we were 2-0 up, and we were cruising through the game really and we just took our foot of the pedal. We let them back into the game and all the lads are really disappointed. We've let everyone down but we have to keep going and push on. We looked comfortable but like I said we took our foot off the pedal and let them get past us. Once the first goal went in we looked a bit shaky to be honest and we shouldn't have let that happen. It wouldn't have been good for the fans watching the last half hour."

The two goals conceded were disappointing and James gave his views:

"We aim every game to get a clean sheet and at 2-0 we looked like we were going to get another one but we just crumbled in the end, we didn't really do our jobs properly. I don't think we've had a decent goal scored against us all season, they've all been scrambles and half chances which have been converted, they never fall for us but they seem to for the other teams."

The game saw many missed chances. But Riley is looking forward to Tuesday nights' game:

"Their keeper has made three or four good saves and we should have capitalised on but we've let ourselves down really."

"We'll get it out of our systems and we go on and push on for next Tuesday and Saturday, two home games and we can get six points from them and push on."

"I think it's twelve out of thirteen we've won at home, so we need to win the next two games, we need to make it our fortress and keep the wins coming."

Riley gave Adam an insight to what he thinks about his run in the team and the goal scorers today:

"When Ryan came back from injury I was a bit disappointed to be dropped to the bench, but you just have to keep plugging away. I've been in the team for the last two games and I think I've done alright and hopefully I'll be able to stay in the team."

"Everyone has got a goal really and we can't always rely on Deano to get the goals, he's working hard up front and he's causing defenders problems. It's just good that some of the other lads are popping up and scoring goals."

Riley also praised Radcliffe for their performance:

"They worked hard and they caused us some problems and it's hard to come to places like this. These are the places we need to come to and win, if we want to win this league.

Riley also gave praise to the fans:

"It's disappointing when we were two goals up and we should have won the game and we've then lost three goals. The fans are obviously disgruntled so hopefully Tuesday we'll sort it out and get back on terms for them."
