After losing 5-2 tonight Neil Aspin spoke to Adam Cheshire about his thoughts of the game:

"Well I'll be perfectly honest with my thoughts, it's not a competition that had preference for us, we couldn't really afford to progress and the fact we've now got every Tuesday night and every Saturday lined up with league fixtures. So that was going to be a problem for us, having said that I didn't want to lose 5-2. The defending was absolutely horrendous and I won't tolerate that in the second half of the season, there were a lot of poor performances and they've all got to look at themselves and question their own performances. But like I said at the start, in some ways it's better that we're out of the competition."

The game certainly showed off some poor performances as Neil told Adam:

"No matter what defence you put out or what team you play against, if they get the amount of attack they had...we were over run and they looked like they were going to score because the defending was so bad and you just can't afford to do that at any level of football. And the lads that played in the back four tonight, probably all had the worst game of their seasons. They were really poor tonight, I can't take many pluses out of it but the two main pluses are that we didn't get any injuries and just obviously that Deano (James Dean) has kept his run going with another goal. But I probably wasn't going to use him tonight but circumstances meant he had to come on. So a couple of pluses but not many."

But thought the younger players brought in did well:

"Lads have come in from college, I mean it's a massive step for them to come in and I wouldn't put any criticism on them and I'm grateful that they've come all the way to Boston, they've seen what it's like to play at this level. It was a very difficult game for them. You know take them out of the equation; there's enough lads who have to help them out and do a lot better. I know that when I played football, if you played with someone experienced you might just play better yourself, so no criticism of them. It's not their fault that we lost the game, but there's squad players who have played tonight, who haven't done the business. It's alright talking about what we can do, but at the end of the day you get your chance to do it on the pitch and that's all that matters."

But with games still to play, Town can only look forward:

"I can't dwell on it we've got Saturday and then Curzon on Monday, two big games, we've got to focus on them and get ready for them and we've also got to be better than we were tonight and that's not a doubt. I know we will be and sometimes it's not a bad thing to get a kick in the teeth to make sure you're better for the next game."
