Vince - That Was Better From Us
FC Halifax Town have beaten Curzon Ashton 1-0 this afternoon, which has moved them up to 4th place in the Unibond First Division North.
Town boss Jim Vince was pleased with his side this afternoon and he said after the game, "That was a better performance for me today than last Saturday. We had to work extremely hard to get anything out of the game today. We were good, organised and strong. It was about patience today, they had a little bit towards the end but I'll review with the video but I don't think we were troubled today collectively.
I thought we were always strong. There were a few errors and on another day they could have cost us but thankfully it didn't. I always thought we were stronger than them.
Junior Brown has done well for us, he's scored a couple of goals like that for us now attacking the far post.. People don't realise how good a leap he has. He's not the tallest but he jumps like a giant. I am really pleased for him.
Paul Gedman is short of match fitness, he'll always gives 110% and it was his first game back for us today. He's a strong character and player for us. He'll get sharper for us.
Colin Daniel has been brilliant for us and hopefully we've helped him over the last month. When he gets back to Crewe and we hope he plays first team football. We've helped him with his confidence and he is absolutely buzzing in there. He's enjoyed his time here.
If we perform well, then the results should look after themselves.
It was more satisfactory for me today to see us win 1-0 than to see us win 4-0 at home last week. We watched last week's first half in training on Thursday and analysed the game and we weren't good in that first half. We left the ground last week having won 4-0 thinking that was great but it wasn't good in the first half.
We identified areas where we could improve and showed the players where we felt they could be better. They took it on board and I have seen evidence of that today.
We're progressing and I think that's five wins on the bounce now in the league. Tuesday night's game is massive for us and I want that game on Tuesday. Our game at their place earlier in the season was embarrassing. Out of all the games we have to play, I am looking forward and relishing that game more. I don't like teams outplaying us and I take it personally. I won't be sleeping between now and Tuesday!"
Next game: Town entertain Mossley at the Shay on Tuesday night, 7-45pm kickoff.
