Vince - We Are Going In Right Direction
FC Halifax Town manager Jim Vince had cried for discipline from his players for the entire game against Clitheroe, and he certainly believes that they delivered. After the 4-0 victory he exclaimed to the Official Website: "We did keep our discipline for the 90 minutes because we kept a clean sheet but there are areas in which we still need to improve upon, but that's my job to identify those areas and give some constructive feedback to the players and tell them where they need to improve on their performance and that's my job to do that.
"My formula, the way I manage my team, there's a hallmark on it, and that's attacking play. I don't like going back but over the last couple of seasons my teams have scored loads of goals and haven't conceded many. I want that here and that's why the chairman has asked me to come here, because the supporters deserve to have a team that scores loads of goals and a team that keeps clean sheets. I'm trying my utmost for this to happen. The likes of Alan Russell-Cox, Nigel Jemson, Ian Helliwell, the whole team are striving to give the fans what they want, what they deserve and what they demand and I think that we are going in the right direction.
"You've got to manage people's expectations, but my expectations are as follows: I wouldn't be here if I didn't want to win the league and for me that's my priority. I want to do it this year and I want to do it with the player's that I've got here. I want to do it for the fans, but we've only won a few games, there's a long way to go. The best team in the league will win the majority of their games. In the last month or so, in the league games especially, we've done exactly what I'd hoped we'd do. If you look at the ability and the quality that we've got in the team it was only a matter of time before we gelled and for them to follow my expectations and that's the plan. We've seen today how well we played, but I'm pretty sure we could have turned it up a couple of more gears. That's a good perspective to have. We've got the confidence and the players believe in each other. The only way we will be good is if the fans off the pitch continue to give their great support. Its two teams: we'll do the business on the park, the supporters do their business off the park and that's the formula for success.
It's nothing to do with me what Clitheroe do or what any team in this league does, as I just focus on what I've got to do here at the Shay, at Halifax. That's our priority to focus on what we're doing. Let everyone else care about themselves, we'll focus on what we're going to do."
