Bamber Bridge Vs FC Halifax Town - Vince's View
FC Halifax Town have beaten Bamber Bridge 5-2 at the QED Stadium tonight in their latest Unibond First Division game.
Jim Vince said after the game, "We took the foot off the pedal a little tonight and every time will have their moments in games. I thought we were good tonight but that's what I expect from my players at this club.
I know that I have had some flak for Saturday's result and performance but I think it was the right decision and that have been vindicated by the result tonight. We rested players on Saturday, the players showed desire, willingness and a great desire. We showed what we are capable of tonight.
We have had flashes of very good play, if we can consistently play like that week in week out that's the team that will win the league this year. I'm not going to say that we will be that team; I hope we are but if we play to that level, we'll have a good shout.
It's an away game that we have comprehensively beaten a team in the top half of the table but we need to keep it going and doing each game. I have no issues with the quality that I have with the squad, the issue I do have is the consistently and the team that wins the league will be the one who has been the most consistent.
We have fits and starts this season but we have won four and drawn one in the last five games so we are getting there.
Nigel Jemson has been magnificent tonight. He's marshalled the defence and looked after the defence and looked after the younger players. He's contributing off the pitch and he's contributing on the pitch.
The sending off was scandalous and he wasn't the only one tonight. Their centre half was all over Colin Daniel all night. He deserved his sending off, you can't go around pulling players hair.
I think offensively we were very good tonight and I thought the work rate of Ashley Stott and Colin Daniel was good. Ashley's goal was top drawer and people have questioned him but he took the opportunity. He could have passed it but he wants to score and get his target. I think him and Colin was a threat. Junior Brown is a dynamo, scored two and missed two. What a player to have in the team. We also had Scott Phelan, Tom Baker, Damien Allen and I don't think anyone had a bad game tonight.
Football is passion and football is about making decisions. When there is a slight disagreement but that's football. He's big enough to take criticism as I am. We shake hands and move on to the training session on Thursday."
Next game: Town entertain Clitheroe in the league on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
