FC Halifax Town Vs Curzon Ashton - Vince's View
FC Halifax Town have lost 2-1 at home to Curzon Ashton this afternoon in the Unibond Cup.
Town boss Jim Vince told the official website after the game, "We got what we deserved which is nothing this afternoon. I'm glad they scored in a way as I really didn't want us to go into extra time.
It's not a priority this competition this season and that's why the team was chosen and it gave me a chance to try out a couple of players. It's a calculated risk, we should have had enough quality to beat them today but I think the players had an attitude that we were too good for this today.
Maybe it's the selection process that shows to the players that the strongest 11 players weren't playing but it's not an excuse. It's still strong enough to have beaten Curzon Ashton this afternoon but we didn't do it.
Kris King and Luke Hinsley have both gifted goals to our visitors this afternoon. It's disappointing and players have to learn from their mistakes. We have made poor decisions at times and it was very similar to the Lancaster game. The lads have to learn, two mistakes have cost us.
We've created plenty of chances outside of the box, we didn't penetrate enough and I don't think there was the desire there today. We'll have it on Tuesday, I want to win every game, but it's disappointing when we perform like that.
We were lacklustre, we've lost three cup games now and I don't think we wanted it badly enough. Did we want to win the Cup, not really. That's not sour grapes; I want to win the league and we need to really concentrate on that."
Town travel to Bamber Bridge on Tuesday night, if you want to go on the official supporters coach, contact George on 07707 143094 to book your place(s) now.
