FC Halifax Town have beaten Skelmersdale United 3-0 at the Shay courtesy of goals from Junior Brown, Cavell Coo and Ashley Stott.

Jim Vince was happy in his assessment with today's performance.

He said after the game, "I was pleased with the performance today. They were a strong team which I knew they would be.They came here with one up front and they were looking to get us on the counterattack but we needed to be disciplined and I think we were today.

Craig Ellison hasn't made a save today, apart from one in the top corner which he should have caught. It shows how well we have defended compared to Tuesday night. We looked tight and compact. The lads on the back were very good with Cavell and Junior supporting.

It wasn't one touch pass and move but we aren't far off that but I guess everyone has gone home happy again today.

Craig has been with me for the last couple of seasons, he's only 19 and he's 6ft4. He's a big keeper and he has a lot of ability. He's going to be a good keeper, he's with us as he looks to progress his career. He is down the pecking order with us having Jon Kennedy and Phil Senior. He's come in and he's been assured with his handling and kicking. Phil got a groin strain prior to the game.

I changed Junior Brown and Colin Daniel as I wanted Colin to expose the space down the side. Fortunately it worked for us. The first opportunity he got to drive at the fullback and he's done good delivery into the box for Junior. It took a good move to score a good goal.

It was Cavell's first goal in six years, he's been looking to score and getting in good areas. He's done it with his head and it was a great goal.

Scoring two goals quickly is down to the tempo we try to play. We created a lot of opportunities but always outside the 18 yard box. I think patience has won us the game today and there is no point panicking, you carry on playing football and we will win games.

Paul Gedman is a big player and we are hoping to keep him if we can come to an agreement with Droylsden.

In the last five games, we have won 4 and drawn 1. It's what we are after and we'll climb the league. That's our priority to do well in the league.

I was without Jon Kennedy who has food poisoning and Kris King has a virus. Scott Phelan got a kick but he'll be okay for the next game.

I thought the crowd was great, they were behind us all the game. There was no booing at 0-0 and I think they understand what we are trying to achieve here. It will take time but it we perform to those levels we won't be far off at the end of the season."

Next Game: Town vs Curzon Ashton (Unibond Cup) - Saturday 18th October, 3pm.
