FC Halifax Town have beaten Wakefield FC in the Unibond Cup with a 2-1 win at the Shay.

Town boss Jim Vince said, "We didn't really get going really. You look at the injury list, our vice captain is out for 8 weeks, our captain will now be out for a while we think. The injury list is growing and growing. Phil Senior will be out for three weeks, Neil Ross has to have surgery, Steve Payne has to have surgery but that's football.

Tony is a big player for us, we're not sure if he's dislocated his shoulder and it's gone back in. We don't think he's broke anything. He's opened up all the ligaments and he'll be off work now as well so it's a total nightmare for him.

We will need to do a little bit of business for centre half position but I have already pre-empted a couple of things and there will be some movement in the next couple of days.

I think the game was a typical League Cup game. It's a good job that we have got through as I wouldn't have been happy with the performance. We didn't do the things that we are good at, ie creating space, have players finding space, the ball wasn't held up and it was always the wrong option. We put the ball high into Ashley Stott, what's he going to do with the ball in the air? You can see what he can do when the ball is played in behind and he's grabbed two goals and should have had more as well.

We've got to play to our strengths and we have got through the tie but it wasn't easy out there.

I don't think we have bounced back after Saturday's game, I think we have stumbled through in a Cup game which potentially we didn't look like winning at one stage.

Full credit to Wakefield, they have come here and given a good go at us tonight but I think our quality at stages was too good for them.

We have managed to win but it's not a healthy win and we'll look forward to Saturday's game at Harrogate Railway now. "
