Vince - There Were Some Good Performances
FC Halifax Town have beaten Ossett Albion 4-3 tonight in the Unibond Presidents Cup tonight.
Town boss Jim Vince said after the game, " I think there were really good performances tonight. To concede three goals wasn't very good though.
Phil Senior didn't do very well for the first goal but I think he made up for it with a couple of excellent saves late on for us.
I was pleased with a number of the players.Danny Ellis needs to make sure he takes responsibility and I was encouraging him to drive at the fullback. If we get that into his game then he will be a good player for us.
I though Scott Phelan was excellent for us tonight, so that's two pluses for us and I thought Antony Hilton and Miles Smith did okay for us.
There were phases of the game where it was a little disjointed but I wasn't overally bothered about the performance tonight. I used tonight to look at players.
I think everyone will leave here with the same thoughts as me. Some of the players did well, some of them didn't.For the ones that didn't they don't need to hide the fact as their performance showed.
Lincoln Adams has a slight strain, he's having a bath now but he's struggling and we hope he will be okay for Saturday.
Danny Davidson did well for us but Ryan Sugden didn't do what we anticipated but he hasn't played in a while. His hold up play wasn't as good as it should have been but Danny came on and grabbed two great goals.
I was quoted as saying "Horrible Club, Horrible Ground and Horrible People" after the preseason game I want to make the point that it wasn't aimed at the officials of Ossett Albion or supporters. It was primarily aimed at the manager and his players to the way they conducted themselves in the preseason friendly. That was the reason why I said those things in the heat of the moment.
Tonight we have come here with a team and we have won the game, we'll let our football do the talking.
It's four wins on the bounce and we'll look forward to the game on Saturday at Nantwich. We have had fantastic support and I hope they enjoyed the game."
