FC Halifax Town have beaten Silsden 3-1 at Cougar Park to book their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

Ashley Stott grabbed his first two competitive goals for the club following his move from Bangor City in the summer and it was no surprise that he was delighted to get off the mark.

He told the official website after the game, "It's about time, it's been a struggle in my start but I am delighted to get the goals.

The first goal was from the corner, it dipped at the last moment, and I threw my head at it but didn't see the ball and the next thing I knew the crowd was cheering so I just ran off to celebrate.

The gaffer put me on penalties before the game, the opportunity came and I picked my place, so I am pleased.

There's a lot of hype around the FA Cup so it's great to score the goals. It's a chance for the players to play on a bigger stage and the Club to move on.

I'll hit my target of 30, I'm a confident guy. I have struggled so far but the fans have seen that I can score now and we'll kick on from here."

Town's next game is away at Mossley on Tuesday 9th September, 7-45pm.
