Vince - We Aren't Doing Enough
FC Halifax Town boss Jim Vince was angered by his team's 2-0 defeat at Lancaster today.
He said after the game, "It's so disappointing again. We were like 11 individuals today and it was a game of two halves again.
On Tuesday we played really well in the first half and faded, whilst today we didn't show up in the first half. It was absolute rubbish.
I have brought these players to the club to play football and for 80% of the first half the ball was in the air. It's not good enough. We played better in the second half.
We made two mistakes and were punished for them. If you make mistakes like that you will get punished.
Kris King was under no pressure and in the second half we didn't attack the ball. It doesn't take rocket science to work out that it isn't acceptable. I'm disappointed with individuals and with the team.
I will need to analyse where it went wrong. I have never experienced this before. Some may say it's a new team and it will take time. Maybe I have been a little naïve as I thought they would play better in a shorter space of time.
It is evident it will take time. You see the quality that we have out there and you look at the mediocre teams that we are playing, no disrespect to them and we should be doing better.
We have got a few players who are in a parallel universe and they think everything is rosy. In reality we are in non league football. These individuals need to amend their approach or they will struggle.
You can't have kneejerk reactions but the point is we aren't doing enough. You can blame the players or me. I will take responsibility for this as I put this team together.
To be a good winner you need to be able to take defeat and I am trying to turn a negative into a positive. I can't understand why some of these players are not turning up.
It's not a gimme to turn up, put a Halifax shirt on and take the three points.Something is wrong and emotions are high at the end of the game. There is obviously a fundamental reason why these players are not performing.
The players have to earn the right to play, some on Tuesday earnt the right to play today. On the evidence today, some won't be wearing one of them again.
Ross Clegg will be out of action for 6 to 8 weeks with a medial injury. Jonathan Smith will need 4 or 5 stitches in a head wound; Adam Morning is struggling and is a blow for us. Tom Harban was rested today as a precaution due an ankle injury.
Matt Woolley played for Alsager Town today; he's had a hamstring injury. So he's getting 90 mins there so hopefully he's come through that unscathed."
Town entertain Durham City at the Shay on Monday, kick-off 3pm.
