Town manager Jim Vince was delighted to see his side win 2-1 at Trafford tonight.

After the game he said , "It's great to get three points on the board. Fair play to Trafford tonight they played well in the second half and they had a go at us.You know they will come at you especially here as the surface is very good.

I think we had done the job at 2-0 and then they hit a dead ball which has swerved in mid air and Lincoln has lost his man. It was nerve wracking at the end but it's the time you want to see your players show composure.

We were still trying to impose ourselves in the last few minutes in the final third and the players need to relax. We have done the job and won the game, let's see it out.

I think the fans will be happier tonight and going home with smiles on their faces.

We started to play a little bit after the first goal and I thought our first half performance was superb. We played good football, maybe we could have scored another couple but only 1-0 up they are always in with a chance.

With Ashley Stott showing some magic for Nigel Jemson's tap in it set us up for the win. It's good for us. I wanted to bring him on to help Ashley and talk him through with some good advice and try to relieve the pressure. He's come on and done what we expect him to do.

Craig Smith has done well for us and he's shown his quality for us tonight. Tony Barras has now had his operation today and he will be back in a couple of weeks, so I am pleased for the club to get three points. There were collectively good performances tonight and now we need to look for the consistency."

Meanwhile Town's assistant manager Nigel Jemson scored Town's winner just minutes after making his competitive debut for the club.

He told the official site, "It was important to get a good result after Saturday's lacklustre performance and important we got the three points. Hopefully we can now kick on now.

Ashley beat his man and got to the byline, looked up and seen me, pulled the ball back and I have stuck it away in the corner. I was delighted to get on the scoresheet.

I am not looking to play week in week out, if I can add something to the squad at 39 then it's good. I haven't lost the appetite to play and it was good to get playing again. We have some good striker here in Ashley, Ross and Proffitt. It was a better team performance tonight which is important for us and so glad to have got the points on the board.

The gaffer told us I would be on the bench today, I am 110% behind him and I am happy to be here. The fan base is great and have been really supportive.

I had Neil Ross at Ilkeston with me and he had scored 12 goals by the end of October. I think given time him and Ashley will form a good partnership and will be scoring us goals."
