Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder hailed his side after he saw them beat promotion chasing Torquay United 3-2 tonight at the Shay.

He said after the game, "They don't make it easy for me and Pete do they or anyone connected with our Football Club.

We were brilliant from the first minute to the last apart from a five minute spell, where we lost Adam Quinn to a hamstring injury. If the big fella stays on the pitch, I thought we would have seen the game out comfortably. I thought we were excellent from start to finish. I thought we created chances; we won battles all over the pitch. I think we've given them a going over. Possibly one they haven't had all season.

Credit to Torquay as they've given teams a going over for ¾ of the season which is why they are at the top end of the table and what I want our players to aim for the next season. I want to see us get the consistency that Torquay United have shown this season.

They are still going for the Championship and they've done ever so well. They'll understand that they are there to be shot at and we've taken a scalp tonight but we should have many more scalps this season.

I think you've seen what we can do tonight, players who were playing at the top of their game, being positive, creating chances, putting balls into decent areas and being energetic and full of life. We've done that tonight and now we look forward to both Thursday and Saturday.

It's a good win but I don't want to get carried away. The opposition have done that all season and they are a benchmark for everyone to chase. We are in our position because we haven't been consistent enough.

We've defended superbly well this evening. They've only really had five minutes and two opportunities, whilst we were great going forward. Jon Shaw could have been top of the goal scoring charts with the opportunities he has had tonight.

Danny Forrest was back in the side tonight, Andy Campbell didn't make the starting XI and there is real competition for places.

We are looking upwards. If we can set that as a benchmark for a performance and build on that, we've got to be looking to pick up as many points as we can in the final games. We have to be up for it for every game. It was a near complete performance, the scoreline may look tight but I think for those that witnessed tonight's game will say that we deserved the victory.
