HFC Match :- Wilder's View
Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder was delighted with his side in the 3-1 win.
He said after the game, "We played to our game plan this afternoon. We knew it was going to be difficult as they have done exceptionally well this season. Histon get results and it is a difficult place to come.
We have been a soft touch away from home this season; we asked a few questions of our players again. Two Saturdays and two wins, it's a good feeling.
We played some good football even in the first half, Danny Forrest hit the bar, Simon Heslop saw an effort saved great stop from the goalkeeper. Yes you have to deal with the long throws and corners we understand that and did it.
For their goal if you get beat by a 25 yard rocket into the top left corner is one where you hold your hands up sometimes. After that I didn't see my goalkeeper making bundles of saves and I thought we played very well with the ball.
It was great for Tom Clarke and Gareth Davies get off the mark. You saw Clarky's reaction, he's a local boy and they are all desperate to do well for the football club.
I think they got through the test today; there will be a lot more tests between now and the end of the season.
We are not going to get too carried away; we've just said it was long overdue. We needed a big win away from home. We should have picked up more results than we have away from home; I've kept saying we weren't a million miles away
The attitude of the lads was great, we changed the system a little bit and it worked a treat for everyone and delighted to get the result.
We said at halftime we didn't want to sit back and defend and when we had the chances to go forward we needed to do it with purpose. The break that we had saw 4 v 1 and more later on.
They were always going to have chances but I think that the back five stood up to the challenge and the goalkeeper who got a whack in the face in the 1st minute and he has concussion. So he came through the game very well, we played in the right areas today which pleased me. We created chances and we deserved the victory this afternoon.
