Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder was left to rue the naivety of his side's play in the 3-3 draw at Altrincham.

He said after the game, "We've done enough to win a game of football away from this home tonight. I would imagine everyone has enjoyed the game. I thought we went for the win tonight and our play was decent at times.

We were very naive with our defending. Just after halftime, we were in control of the game. We said they would come at us and have a good blow at it and we didn't deal with a long throw.

We got ourselves back in front through really good play and instead of being professional and a little bit streetwise and taking the sting our of the game we have left the back door open again. They have taken advantage of that.

I think the final result could have been 8-3 or 8-4 to us tonight. We have been 3-0 up before they even had a sniff at goal.

I have said to the players after the game that I would much prefer to see them play that way tonight than the way they did in the first half on Saturday. I thought the players didn't step into the game on Saturday but they did today. I looked around and there wasn't many old heads in there. Campbell 27, Shaw 26 and Doughty 25 and then you are talking 21, 22 and 23 years old.

They have to learn from this tonight. What concerns me is that we will look back at the end of the season and see that this has happened to us too many teams this season. With a little bit of experience, know how and less naivety we are probably 15 to 20 points light. This is another game in that manner.

It started way back in August against Altrincham. We were 2-0 up and it should have been 3, 4 or 5 and we didn't. We were naive and we were done by one long ball. It's set the season for us with the naivety and we haven't learned from it. We've not been far off turning losses into draws and draw into wins but tonight is another game where three goals should have been enough. The goals for them haven't come from sustained pressure. They have scored when we are at our most vulnerable. We score and we give them a massive list. Another game we should have sealed and got the win.

The positives out of tonight - We've scored three goals and created another dozen chances and their goalkeeper has had a blinder. Andy Campbell 90 mins Danny Forrest 60/70 mins and Jake Wright all got good time on the pitch and we're going to need them in the coming games."
