Halifax Town boss Chris Wilder was not downbeat after the match at Bishop's Stortford.

He said after the game, "I was disappointed with their two goals; I don't want to go on about referees. Their first goal, the linesman is three yards away and not given the freekick and the referee has given it from 20 yards away. I didn't think it was a free kick, and then their lad has gone right through Matt Doughty, so I didn't understand why he didn't get booked for that as I thought it was a poor challenge. We have defended too deep for their first goal. However they have shown great resilience to come back from that twice. We had three boys making their debuts this afternoon; it was only Nathan Joynes second game in his second spell with the club. These are young boys playing senior football really for the first time.

It was good for me today as we've had round pegs in round holes. We've not done a lot of shape work this week; it's a team which has been thrown together really. I thought they stuck together. We have taken the disappointment of going behind and created chances and kept going. Adam's made a save which kept us in the game, but to be fair we worked their goalkeeper harder this afternoon.

I think it was a fair result overall, it was always going to be a difficult game as they've got some momentum being fifth in the league.Histon and Salisbury have proved that their league is a strong one. I think we have come here and played well individually and as a team. Yes we are disappointed with the two goals conceded, however we have shown great spirit and resilience to come back and get our two goals and kept going for the win. We haven't sat back and maybe have given me a couple of nightmares at times, as we needed to be steady and careful. However that's the exuberance of youth wanting to win games and I think it showed today we were looking to win it.

For our second goal, it sums up how it's going for us at the moment. The ball hits the bar and I thought it was already over, but to be fair we have followed it in and made sure, so I don't know who got the goal. A lot of teams in our league may have come here today and come unstuck, so it's a decent result for us and now we have to finish the job off on Tuesday night. It will be difficult; they've got some good players at the top. Pearson has attracted a lot of interest from a lot of clubs, including some Championship clubs and has scored a lot of goals. Essandoh brings his presence and experience to the side and have good players all over the pitch. We knew in a one off game this would be a difficult tie for us. It wasn't a gimmy. When you play teams in your own league, you know what to expect. We have come into the unknown, against an unknown team and I am delighted with the reaction from the 1st to 90th minute."

Halifax Town will entertain Bishop's Stortford in the replay at the Shay on Tuesday night, kick-off 7.45pm.
