Halifax Town boss Chris Wilder was pleased to see his side progress to the next round of the FA Trophy.

He said after the game, "I am not embarrassed to win a game of football. I have been involved in football a long time, I can't remember being involved in conditions as bad as that. The first half Craig Mawson was struggling to kick the ball out of his box and then the wind changed at half time and dropped!

Full credit to the players, they have a fighting chance as a football team. They are top of their league, they come here full of confidence. Obviously it is evened up with the conditions, makes it more difficult for us to get it down and pass it. But they stuck to the guns and created chances in the first and second half. The team that is in their league is Chasetown, who knocked Port Vale out of the FA Cup, who are halfway up their league. Leamington are top of that league.

It is an unbelievable strike from them, which our goalkeeper couldn't do anything about. It's gone right in the angle of the top corner. We have stuck at it, we haven't kept launching high balls, we have tried to play in difficult conditions and we worked our way back into the game.

I have got Danny Forrest, who has only had 45 minutes of training in three months sitting on the bench, Andy Campbell who I can't play for more than 25 minutes trained for four or five days sitting on the bench. Peter Atherton playing a full game, Alex Bailey not played. I look round and I have Nathan Joynes, Thomas Harban, Adam Legzdins, a whole of host of players either injured or ineligible that I couldn't play. So I am delighted with the end result, delighted with the performance, delighted with the attitude of the supporters who've braved the weather to cheer us on to a win. If we do progress, who remembers how the game went, we've got the win, and we are in the next round on Saturday against Bishop's Stortford, which I think will be a totally different game, full of confidence.

With regards to the conditions, it was difficult and I defy any player to go out there and perform to their best. I think the foreigners in our game would have looked at the pitch after 10 minutes wanting the referee to abandon the game. I think personally, maybe the game should have been called off, but if I say that I will be accused of not being handle the pressure or the conditions. I think it evened the game out. It wasn't in our favour, they didn't suit us but we stuck to the task, created chances and got the goal at a great time for us.

I think on the balance of play we deserved to win, if football was played on paper there would be no upsets, there would be no Chasetown's knocking Port Vale out of the Cup.There were two or three that can pick their performances up individually, but we have the win and that's all I am interested in.
