Halifax Town manager Chris Wilder was delighted with his side's performance against Crawley Town.

He said after the game, "There were good performances all over the pitch. There was a good tempo. We passed and competed when we had to. We won battles all over the pitch and I think we thoroughly deserved the win.

It's been coming and I didn't want hard luck stories today. Things have gone against us previously but I thought today we took it out of its hands and we got the result.

I thought our set pieces were decent today. We got balls into good areas. The goals were good and they were well worked. We played at a tempo which I don't think the opposition could handle today. They've done ever so well Crawley and are a good side. They are up there for a reason and have some good players but today I thought we were the better side and deserved our victory.

We wanted a quick start and I thought we got that. Even though I thought they missed the best chance of the game through our own undoing really, we weren't tight enough. After that I thought we took control especially pleased with the third goal with Simon Heslop driving forward from midfield and the goalkeeper's gone into a 50/50 with him and the ball's fallen to Griffith and it's a fantastic finish. We said at half time we needed a quick start and we got that. Even though the sending off could have affected us, we didn't need to see the game out as we didn't need to. We handled everything the opposition threw at us and created bits and pieces even though we were down to 10 men.

The referee is there to make decisions and the linesmen were strong. They saw things and kept their flag up which they have to. The referee had to be strong. I bat for my team and that's how I am. I thought we competed, I thought the referee did what he had to do. He booked Ryan Toulson for encroachment and I haven't complained about that. There were tackles coming in on the pitch. They stood up for their side and we stood up for ours. It's a game of football. I didn't see it boil over at all. I didn't see anyone get injured in a serious way. I thought it was two sides going at it in a game. You're bound to have mistimed tackles but if the referee sees it he books them and if he doesn't, then they don't get booked. I thought he did that today.
