DFC Match :- Atherton's View
Halifax Town have won 3-0 at home to Droylsden this afternoon courtesy of a hattrick from Andy Campbell
Town Assistant Manager Peter Atherton said after the game, "We knew what the players were capable of, we made a few changes to the side and they have done extremely well. Great performance, great result but should have had more goals.
We need competition throughout the squad, the lads that have come in have done well. We know it's a tight squad and they haven't been playing to the standards but today they did.
We have had chances in previous games, not taken them and punished up the other end. To be fair, the lads have been fantastic during the week but in games have underperformed. We knew what the lads could do and today they have shown that.
We've had good supply to the frontmen, were better from back to front with the ball. The midfield got on the ball and were playing some good football and Andy deserved his hattrick.
It was never going to be an easy task today, but we dealt with them well.
Through out the team, everyone played well. I don't want to pick out individuals but a lot of good performances.
Fantastic that we have kept a clean sheet, there were a couple of edgy moments when a ball could have caught us out, which is disappointing as we've been working on. But thankfully we've kept a clean sheet.
Their goalkeeper has pulled off a number of saves, we've missed a few and it could easily have been double the number of goals for us today. We'll take the three points."
