FC Halifax Town 3 - 0 Harrogate Railway

The Shaymen, looking to come back from a defeat last week, had a convincing win 3-0 against Harrogate Railway today at the Shay.

Town started the game brightly and saw a couple of half chances come their way before Richard Marshall scored in the twenty-fourth minute. Town looked most dangerous when attacking down the right flank as Marshall's goal proved. A cross in from the right wing saw the striker meet the ball which sneaked past the Railway 'keeper.

Although not a compelling first half, there was some good link-up play from the front two, James Dean and Richard Marshall. The Shaymen went in at half time 1-0 up, although Halifax players Ryan Crossley and Harry Winter were booked for fouls.

The second forty-five minutes was more convincing from Town who scored a further two goals through Nick Gray and substitute Mark Peers. Ten minutes into the half and Nick Gray found himself through on goal but put his shot wide. Gray soon made up for this miss when four minutes later a ball over the top left him one on one with the 'keeper, this time taking Town to a 2-0 lead.

Town saw the ball go in the back of the net only for the off-side flag to be raised several times, before Mark Peers sealed the victory. On eighty-eight minutes Peers shot a low drive across goal to see Town go 3-0 up.

Railway's performance left a lot to be desired and Town were well deserving of the win. The Shayman's next game is on Monday night, away at Tameside against Curzon Ashton.
